Database Administrator (DBA) Developer

Tiber Creek Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Database Administrator (DBA) Developer in Northern Virginia. Join our team providing server support, data and application support, and ensure database performance by planning, developing, managing, and securing databases that meet enterprise requirements in system analysis, structure, policy, procedure, security, backup and recovery. Experience and duties to include design, implement, and maintain moderately complex databases; support governance, compliance, development and sustainment of applications and systems; business intelligence and data warehouse support; data administration support and data analysis. The successful candidate will be experienced in performing requested changes, updates and modifications to database structure and data as well as designing, planning, and implementing databases.

You will work with an Agile team utilizing Scrum methodology on projects in Microsoft SharePoint, CRM, and MS SQL environments. A broad set of skills and experience is required including software development using Microsoft SQL Server 2016, T-SQL and T-SQL language (queries, views, procedures), SQL Server database design, stored procedure design and implementation; coding stored procedures (using T-SQL); proven analytical problem solving and debugging skills; knowledge of data warehousing models; report generation; and working knowledge of Azure services. DBA experience troubleshooting and resolving database integrity issues, performance issues, blocking and deadlocking issues, etc. and experience with performance tuning, query optimization, using Performance Monitor, SQL Profiler and other related monitoring and troubleshooting tools ensure your success in this position.

Location:Northern Virginia
Education:BS/BA degree. Security+ is preferred. Technical Level II certifications as defined by DODI 8570 (GSEC, Security+, SCNP, SSCP) will be required.
Experience:8+ years’ DBA or Database Developer experience. Former Army, DoD or DHS Admin/HR experience a plus.
Clearance:DoD Secret Clearance or Public Trust is preferred. You must be able to obtain a DoD Secret clearance.
Related Experience Should Include:
  • Ensures database performance by planning, developing, managing, and securing databases. Identifies database requirements, evaluates existing systems, designs proposed system, recommends solutions by defining database physical structure and functional capabilities, database security, data back-up, and recovery specifications.
  • Knowledge / experience with Microsoft SQL Server VM Ware, Windows Server 2012, DOD RMF process, Network administration and data base administration.
  • Knowledge of at least one object-oriented programming language such as Java or .NET.
  • Related database analysis and database modeling and implementation.
  • Ability to produce visualization of data for leadership decision-making.
  • Proven database programming (T-SQL) skills and good understanding of data development lifecycle and the tools that support it, such as SSIS design tools.
  • Experience with metadata concepts and strategies; modeling tools such as Visio or ERwin; Visual Studio, SSMS, SSIS, and other SQL tools.
  • Working knowledge and experience with dimensional modeling principles.
  • Knowledge of source code versioning techniques in the context GIT; ability to program data processing cycles (ETL); knowledge of Business Intelligence Development Studio; Knowledge of DTS conversion.
  • Technical documenting skills (Windows Office/Visio/CVS, etc.)
  • Knowledge / experience with HP TRIM or HP Records Manager, SharePoint 2016, and Powershell desired, but not required.
Job Duties:
  • Server Support and Administration.
  • Implement SQL software features across all layers of the Microsoft technology stack.
  • Design and deploy data table structures, forms, reports, and queries.
  • Coordinate and work with other technical staff to develop relational databases and secondary databases.
  • Identify inefficiencies in current databases.
  • Develop and maintain database stored procedures, views and functions for hosted web applications.
  • Produce ad hoc queries and develop reports to support business needs.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation; produces design artifacts such as class diagram and entity relationship diagrams, data dictionary, etc.
  • Implement data dashboards to display data in differing formats.
  • Participate in the design, maintenance, enhancement, and coding of relational databases.
  • Create complex functions, scripts, stored procedures and triggers to support application development.
  • Analyze and determine information needs and elements; data relationships and attributes; data flow and storage requirements; and data output and reporting capabilities.
  • Coordinate new data development ensuring consistency and integration with existing data warehouse structure.
  • Tests designed applications.
  • Maintenance of database dictionaries and integration of systems through database design.
Minimum Qualifiers:
  • Active DoD Secret clearance or Public Trust preferred.
  • Security+ is preferred.
  • Candidates must be local to DC/MD/VA for occasional onsite visits.
  • Unable to work with 3rd party candidates or agencies.
