Technical Writer/Documentation

Tiber Creek Consulting is seeking Technical Writers/Documentation Specialists who will work independently to manage multiple complex tasks with tight deadlines and proactively seek assistance from a variety of subject matter experts. You will be assisting the Tiber Creek team with documentation needs to include documenting IT system requirements and presentations, producing user guides, training materials, product release notes, use cases, user stories, and auditing system wide documentation for overall compliance. As part of our staff, you will be applying your skills to innovative and vital projects for Tiber Creek as well as for our government and commercial clients in the Northern Virginia area. The successful candidate learns to use new software products quickly, breaks down complex concepts into easy-to-understand content, and manages multiple projects with overlapping deadlines. The position has high growth potential in several directions, depending on your interests, including functional and/or project leadership roles.

Education:AA/BA/BS degree is required.
Experience:2+ years' Information Technology documentation experience
Clearance:DoD Secret Clearance is required.
Related Experience Should Include:
  • Strong writing/documentation skills (user guidance, training materials, technical documentation preferred).
  • Strong organizational skills (including helping to manage technical projects).
  • Technically savvy (quick to pick up basic computer programs and tools).
  • Strong interpersonal skills (experience working with project managers, technical writing teams, developers, and customers).
  • Experience with an enterprise-grade Help Authoring Tool (HAT) such as MadCap Flare or Adobe RoboHelp is a plus.
  • HTML/CSS knowledge is a plus.
  • Prior military experience is a plus.
Job Duties:
  • Works with product/project team members to gather and document new and existing IT system requirements.
  • Maintains or creates user operating manuals, videos, new product guides, training material, and instructional manuals for IT systems.
  • Implement new single-sourcing practices for new and existing user guides and videos.
  • Work with technical staff to gather status and create reports for management review.
  • Follow and document the life-cycle of application development tasks in all phases.
  • Generate task descriptions and track derived requirements in project tracking tool.
  • Assists with auditing system wide documentation for overall compliance.
  • May work independently or as part of a team.
Minimum Qualifiers:
  • DoD Secret Clearance is required.
  • Unable to work with 3rd party candidates or agencies.
  • Technical Writing sample(s) required with your application to be considered for this position.
