Systems Administrator/Network Engineer

Tiber Creek Consulting is seeking candidates in the Northern Virginia area to join our growing IT Team. As a Systems Administrator/Network Engineer with CompTIA Security+ CE and other computing environment certifications such as the CompTIA Server+, CompTIA Network+, and Microsoft MCSA, your performance in this position provides growth potential in several directions, including technical and/or project leadership roles, engineering, IT architecture, and security. Due to DoD contracts, applicants with a current Security Clearance (Secret) are preferred.

You will provide Tier 1 through Tier 3 support services to our staff, clients, and partners experiencing technical issues and/or submitting IT requests involving business applications and workplace productivity tools for networking appliances, desktops, laptops, virtual machines, and servers. This includes providing support, problem tracking, diagnosis, replication, resolution, escalation, and system/application support documentation development. Successful candidates in this position will be rewarded with increasingly complex network and systems engineering duties.

Clearance Current DoD Secret Clearance Preferred. Ability to obtain Secret Clearance is required. Candidates must be US citizens who are clearable for a DoD Secret clearance, due to military contract requirements.
Related Experience
Should Include:
  • 4+ technical support experience (preferred experience in Microsoft Windows desktop and server platforms, MS Exchange server administration, MS Office, Backup Software, DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, Group Policy, Layer 3 Networking).
  • Microsoft Azure, AWS or related Cloud Experience.
  • Source Control experience such as Team Foundation Server and Git preferred.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the issues involved with administering and maintaining corporate infrastructure, including network connectivity, Internet access, email, Active Directory, etc.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the issues involved in administering and maintaining the corporate WAN/LAN.
  • Cisco Catalyst Switch installation, management, and monitoring VLAN Design.
  • Some experience with MS SQL Server (2008R2, 2012, 2014, 2016) architecture, installation and maintenance.
  • Some experience in designing and maintaining SAN and NAS environments.
  • Experience with virtualization such as MS Hyper-V and/or VMware.
  • Some experience in security auditing such as SCAP/STIG/ACAS/etc.
  • Some experience in Linux appreciated but not mandatory.
  • Experience in PowerShell and/or other scripting languages is preferred.
  • Experience with MS IIS ASP.NET application installation, configuration, and troubleshooting is a plus.
  • Experience with design, implementation, and management of Windows Server 2008-2016 environments
Job Duties:
  • Configure, install, and update desktops, laptops, servers, and peripherals based on client service requests or as otherwise assigned.
  • Perform application installations and upgrades. Provide support and maintenance to local and remote staff.
  • Implement, automate and improve infrastructure administration tasks using tools such as WSUS, MDT, WDS, and other configuration management tools.
  • Maintain and further improve the security, monitoring, and stability of our enterprise environment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance of systems, applications, and computing equipment in Tiber Creek’s network computing environment.
  • Build and administer Windows servers.
  • Support Active Directory, including AD accounts, security groups, group policy, DNS, and DHCP.
  • Install/troubleshoot VPN solution for remote access.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot firewall functionality.
  • Assist in production data center tasks as required by the IT Manager and senior engineering staff.
  • Manage Windows Active Directory and Exchange user accounts, including security groups and rights, group policy, and distribution groups.
  • Support internal IT Infrastructure to manage and maintain compliance with NIST SP800-171r1.
  • Accomplish special projects and other related duties.
  • Participate in rotating on-call and maintenance schedules/rotations as assigned, possibly including occasional nights and weekends.
